About

I am a master's student in computer science at the University of South Carolina, where I work as a graduate research assistant advised by Dr. Forest Agostinelli and Dr. Peng Fu. My research applies deep reinforcement learning and heuristic search to quantum circuit synthesis — teaching machines to construct quantum circuits directly from mathematical specifications.

Before graduate school I completed a B.S.E. in computer engineering at South Carolina, where I spent two years teaching university mathematics, physics, and computer science as a supplemental instructor and teaching assistant.

Research

Quantum circuit synthesis with reinforcement learning

May 2025 – present
  • Applying deepxube, a reinforcement-learning framework, to automatically construct quantum circuits from mathematical specifications; training and benchmarking neural networks on the university’s high-performance computing cluster.
  • Built a quantum-computer simulator for the Proto-Quipper programming language, translating formal language semantics into a working implementation.

Reinforcement learning for chemical synthesis

Aug 2022 – Aug 2023
  • Designed and trained reinforcement learning models for chemical synthesis planning as an undergraduate research assistant; presented a conference poster and talks on recent AI research.

Led supplemental instruction sessions three times weekly for Calculus II and Physics II, with regular groups of 2–10 students and pre-exam reviews drawing 20–30.
